The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) plans to expand its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations nationwide.

Currently, the NNPC has operational CNG stations in Gaduwa, Wuse, Gudu, Dei Dei, Ushafa, and Gwagwalada in Abuja. The company’s plan is to extend this initiative to other locations nationwide.

In a recent social media post, the company urged Nigerians to consider switching to CNG, emphasizing its benefits. These include reduced maintenance expenses, cleaner emissions, and improved safety features, making it a compelling alternative fuel source.

According to NNPC Retail, the downstream arm of NNPC Limited, CNG has the beneficial properties of preventing fuel loss, maintaining cleaner lubricant oils, and having a high auto-ignition temperature, which makes it less prone to ignite on hot surfaces.

It is important to note that CNG is sold at approximately N200 per standard cubic foot for cars, taxis, and tricycles and N260 per standard cubic meter (SCM) for heavy commercial vehicles.

This development follows the recent petrol price increase across the country.
