Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says he isn’t in a fight with anyone. He thinks it’ll be clear to everyone when he’s in a fight.

Fubara said he’s worried that the law isn’t being enforced or moving forward against wrongdoers, especially in Rivers State.

He said it seems like some powerful forces are at play in the state’s protests. He also said that there was no state where the terms of former local government chairpersons became a problem.

Governor Fubara said that he isn’t targeting anyone in particular. He’s just trying to protect the state from threats and defend the rights of Rivers State’s citizens against those who think they have the right to control others’ lives.

The state leader also noted that no other governor in Nigeria has faced as much criticism from former local government council chairpersons as he has.

Governor Fubara said he hasn’t let these insults and threats get to him. He’s chosen to ignore the attackers because he knows they’re trying to distract him.

He made a point of saying that he’s committed to providing effective governance and benefits to the people of Rivers.

The governor also commented on the recent explosion in Port Harcourt. He said that the man who detonated the explosive was trying to blow up the Presidential Hotel, which is a very well-known hospitality facility in the state.

Fubara said the failed attacker targeted the facility that was home to high-profile individuals, including members of the Senate committee, to justify calls for a state of emergency in the state.

He said, “The plan was that as soon as the state of emergency was announced, it would be so that by the time you finished your meeting tomorrow (Thursday), the debate would be from someone from this state who called you to tell you not to come.

He’ll now bring up the possibility of a state of emergency. He’ll say that, after all, other colleagues saw what happened while you were in Rivers State, and you saw what happened, too.

The governor told the committee to consider what’s best for Rivers State as it considers privatizing and commercializing some public entities.

He said that by buying shares in these companies, the state can ensure their protection and monitoring, which will help them become sustainable.

Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, said during his speech that they went to Rivers State to oversee various projects under their jurisdiction.

Senator Kalu, who represents Abia North, praised Governor Fubara for his dedication to promoting peace, delivering effective governance, and creating a conducive environment for economic development for all residents of the state.

In addition, the Senate committee chairman asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to focus on peace by keeping his supporters calm and prioritizing the state’s interests.

He said, “I want to commend Your Excellency, Deputy, and team for all your great work in the state. But it’s also important to have peace.”

He said the committee is ready to work with the state government to achieve goals that will benefit everyone in Nigeria.
