These life hacks will make your daily to-dos (plus a few random projects) so much easier!

Pasta Lighter

We know you’re buying candles to make your home cozy in the winter. You can still enjoy your favorite scent if your candles are burning low. Instead of burning your fingers, light a piece of uncooked spaghetti. It’ll reach into the candles and burn long enough to light the cake!

Remove Highlighter Stains

Remove highlighter stains from books. Lemon juice makes highlighter marks disappear. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a cotton swab. Wipe highlighted text with lemon juice.

Lemon juice from a container also works, but it doesn’t work as well on older marks. Plus, check out these cleaning tips from the pros.

Pool Noodle Water Hose

Put the bucket on the floor, put the pool noodle over the faucet, and run it down to the bucket. Pool noodle hacks to improve your life:

Fog-Free Mirrors

Car wax prevents your bathroom mirror from fogging up after a hot shower. Apply car wax to the mirror, let it dry, and buff it with a soft cloth. Expert tips for saving money on your next bathroom remodel.

Renew your furniture in minutes.

My son plastered his room with skate shop stickers. I wanted to use his furniture in the new guest room without the stickers, so I used a putty knife and hair dryer to remove the stickers. Some were harder to remove, but I got them all off in a couple of hours.

Remove wrinkles from your laundry with no effort.

Forget about irons or handheld steamers. To remove wrinkles, add ice or a wet washcloth to your dryer. Ice and steam will remove wrinkles. This trick doesn’t work well with heavy clothes but is excellent for light fabrics. You don’t have to dry for more than 10 minutes. These 20 ideas make the most of your laundry or utility room.

Dryer Lint Fire Starter

To build a fire, you need tinder, kindling, and fuel. Dryer lint can be used as a fuel. I make fire starters with empty toilet paper tubes and dryer lint. My dryer lint logs light quickly and burn long enough to light up the kindling. No lighter fluid is needed!

Secret Cash Stash

“I don’t always want to carry my wallet.” At the beach, for example, I leave my belongings unattended while I go for a swim. I still need cash for food and drinks. I made a secret cash stash out of an empty lip balm tube. You can also use an empty sunscreen stick. A long nail is good for removing lip balm’s last bits, and a cotton swab wipes away any residue.

The tube is small enough to fit in my pocket and will fool thieves. Who would steal used lip balm?

Find Lost Items

It isn’t enjoyable when you can’t find a dropped item. How do you find these items quickly? Use your vacuum. Before turning on the vacuum, cut off the end of a nylon string and secure it to the end of your vacuum hose with a rubber band. See these great ideas for using rubber bands in new ways.

Bring Dead Sharpies Back to Life

Dried-out Sharpies aren’t a big deal. It’s annoying when you can’t find another one to mark your measurements or notes.

To bring your marker back to life, remove the back. It’s different for each brand. For Sharpies, remove the back nib. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the felt inside. Shake the marker to soak up the rubbing alcohol. The solvent in the ink dries out first, which makes the pigment stop flowing. The marker will be as good as new in a couple of minutes!

Magnetized Drill Hack

I like to keep screws close when I’m working on a project. How close? I stick them to my drill. Some drills have a magnet, but here’s an easy fix if yours doesn’t. Glue a magnet to the back of your drill and put screws on it. I don’t need a tool belt for small tasks.

Write Notes on the Washer

Note on the washing machine lid with a dry-erase marker which items shouldn’t go in the dryer. This way, anyone switching the load knows which items to leave for line drying.

Most washing machine lids have an enamel finish, like a whiteboard. Dry-erase markers can be removed with a dry paper towel.
