Maria didn’t know her parents well. She was put into foster care at nine, and her adoptive parents took over her life shortly after. Maria felt lonely as a teen and thought her friends couldn’t relate.

That is until she met Jaime. He was the first person to listen to and relate to her sadness. This meant a lot to Maria. They started dating and became inseparable.

Jaime didn’t like talking about his parents. He acted like they didn’t exist.

Maria wondered why Jaime didn’t want to talk about his parents. She brought it up sometimes, but he ignored her.

Jaime surprised Maria when he told her he was in touch with his mother.

Maria thought about it for months and then let it go.

Maria decided to find out what the deal was with Jaime’s mom.

Jaime was busy some nights because he talked to his mom on the phone. He called her every Sunday. Jaime said his mom was excited to come to the wedding. Jaime’s relationship with his mom seemed normal. Why not meet her?

Maria thought of a bold idea to fix the issue with Jaime’s mom.

What if she contacted Jaime’s mom?

Maria needed to have Jaime’s mom’s contact info.

Maria had met some of Jaime’s friends, but they had yet to talk about Jaime’s mom.

Jaime excused himself to go to the bathroom while hanging out with Maria and one of his friends.

Maria was left alone with Jaime’s friend. Jaime’s friend took a drink and turned toward Maria. He was about to say something important.

Jaime’s friend told Maria he’d wondered about Jaime’s mom for a long time.

Jaime’s friend said Jaime told him something unbelievable. Jaime said his mom was a suspect in his father’s death.

Maria was shocked.

Maria did some research that night.

Maria called the newspaper to ask about their archives.

A woman at the paper said the archives existed but needed to be digitized. Maria asked to come to the paper to look through the archives. The woman said she could and scheduled a time for Maria to visit.

Maria finally found the article.

There it was, a headline about a local woman suspected of killing her husband. All the details matched what Maria knew about Jaime and his family. The names, dates, and town were proper. She couldn’t believe it.

Maria took a photo of the article.

Maria didn’t talk about it with Jaime. She was busy planning the wedding.

Jaime said something surprising, and Maria didn’t know how to react.

Jaime told Maria his mom was excited to meet her.

It was finally here. Maria and Jaime’s wedding day.

It happened. Maria heard that Jaime’s mom had arrived.

She went into the church and sat down. She didn’t speak to anyone or bring a guest. She was sitting alone. Maria was worried. Wasn’t Jaime’s mom happy to be there? Didn’t she want to meet Maria and her family?

Maria asked her maid of honor to invite Jaime’s mom to meet Maria.

Jaime’s mom agreed to meet Maria, but only if they met alone.

They met in the dressing room.

Jaime’s Mom Reveals the Truth

Maria was right. Jaime lied to her. She felt betrayed and heartbroken by her fiancé and had many questions.

Maria yells, “Stop the wedding!”

Maria was devastated.

Jaime’s mother held her and said everything would be okay, but Maria wasn’t sure. How could she marry Jaime now that she knew he lied to her?

She apologized. She asked Maria to let her explain. Maria asked Jaime’s mom to explain. Jaime’s mom said she was accused of killing Jaime’s father after he died. She was innocent. The police said she was innocent.

Jaime’s mom said that although she was innocent, the community always viewed her suspiciously.

When Jaime heard what was happening, he ran into the room and hugged Maria. Jaime hadn’t told Maria the truth.

Jaime was talking to detectives on the phone, not his mother.

Jaime was a crucial witness in the case. His mother had left the country, so he also had to relay information from her to the detectives. Maria accepted this and had one more decision to make.

Maria married the love of her life, and her mom smiled from the church.

Despite the drama, it was the happiest day of Maria’s life.

After years of work, they found a suspect.

A few months later, a man was arrested for killing Jaime’s father. His mother moved back to be closer to him. After her name was cleared, she could face her former friends.

Maria and Jaime welcomed a baby girl. Jaime’s mother was happy to be there.

If her son hadn’t worked so hard on the case, she wouldn’t have been cleared and could never have lived freely.
