Ella Emhoff has attended some of the most prestigious schools in the country, setting her up for a lucrative career as an artist and fashion designer

In 2013 or 2014, Doug Emhoff invited Ella Emhoff to a seafood shack on California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Ella had been there before. It was one of her favorites. But this dinner was different. She was meeting her father’s new girlfriend, Kamala Harris.

At the time, Ella had no idea that Kamala Harris would become a serious contender for president. All Ella wanted to know was if this new woman would fit in with her family. Luckily, Ella liked Harris. When the future vice president married Doug in 2014, Ella accepted her. Harris later wrote to Elle that they had come up with the name ‘Momala.’

In the years that followed, Ella’s life changed a lot. Her stepmother became a politician, her father made a lot of money, and she became famous. Thanks to her success, Ella has enjoyed a lot of luxury.

Ella Emhoff lives lavishly thanks to her father, Doug Emhoff, and her stepmother, Vice President Kamala Harris. Since their 2014 wedding, Doug and Harris have become a powerful couple. Forbes says they’re worth about $8 million. 

Doug earns about $1 million a year as a lawyer and as a law professor at Georgetown University. Harris has been a six-figure earner for over twenty years, according to Forbes.

The Wildwood School website says school fees are expensive. Tuition for 2024/25 was up to $50,840, and elementary schoolers paid $43,990 for a year of coursework.

Ella Emhoff’s education didn’t end at Wildwood School. Ella Emhoff also studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Studying at Parsons is expensive, too. The New School website says the 2024/25 school year tuition is $28,989 per semester or $57,978 annually. This doesn’t include living expenses in New York City.

On 20 January 2021, Ella Emhoff’s life changed forever. Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States, and Kamala Harris became the first female vice president. To mark the occasion, Emhoff wore an outfit by Batsheva Hay.

As a rising star in fashion, Ella Emhoff was likely excited to attend the 2021 New York Fashion Week. 

The young couple made a splash in their gender-bending clothes. Hine wore a blazer with a skirt, and Emhoff wore a collared shirt and necktie.

Ella Emhoff has fun all year round. The model and designer have been seen on boat trips. In 2021, Emhoff posted a photo on Instagram of herself on a boat in a red swimsuit. Before that, paparazzi captured her with her boyfriend, Sam Hines, on a yacht in Saint-Tropez.

Ella Emhoff often visits her family home in Brentwood, California. Her father, Doug Emhoff, bought the property in 2012 when she was a preteen. The house sold for $2.7 million but is now worth up to $5.1 million.

The house is 3,500 square feet and has five bathrooms and four bedrooms. The backyard has a pool, patio, and garden.

Ella Emhoff works hard, both as a model and a designer. In 2024, Emhoff hosted a gallery opening where she exhibited knitted art. Those who know Emhoff’s work were not surprised to see her talent on display. Some of her textiles were self-portraits that focused on her eyes and glasses.

Ella Emhoff sold her pieces for thousands of dollars. The New York Post reports that the emerging artist’s knitted self-portrait sold for $5,500. Even her clothes were expensive. A pair of hand-knit pants cost about $350.
