Hoda Kotb stated that her former superior behaved in body-shaming, instructing her to “get on the treadmill.”
The 60-year-old broadcaster surprised her co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, 42, when she shared her story on Monday’s episode of Today.
The pair discussed the forthcoming biopic, in which Timothée Chalamet is set to portray Bob Dylan. It was observed that he had been advised to alter his body type to secure more prominent roles.
“Individuals may occasionally inform you that you are unsuitable for a particular role,” Hoda stated.
I had recently commenced employment in a relatively minor market. I participated in basketball at the secondary level and thus assumed that I was physically fit. Upon completing my undergraduate studies, I discovered this was not the case.
I recall my superior approaching me and greeting me with the salutation, “Good morning, Hoda.”
He then proceeded to proffer an idea. “Perhaps you should consider utilizing the treadmill,” she posited, emulating her erstwhile superior.
Jenna was taken aback and responded with a vehement negative.
“When you believe you possess a quality you do not possess?” Hoda persisted.
“It is referred to as ‘reverse body dysmorphia,'” Jenna stated. “I also exhibit this phenomenon.”
I was perplexed and inquired as to the nature of her statement. Hoda stated.
Those who do not conform to the prevailing standards of appearance and speech are expected to conform to a particular set of norms if they wish to be accepted.
One can discern when one is merely feigning. Such actions result in the loss of one’s true identity.
Hoda’s narrative surprised her audience, yet it was universally agreed that authenticity is of paramount importance.
One Instagram commenter posited that “molds are meant to be broken.” Being yourself is imperative.
Another commentator posited that the individual in question was, in fact, perfect in their current state.
A third party offered the following advice: “It is important to be true to oneself.”
Hoda’s final appearance on the Today Show is scheduled for the coming weeks. She is departing from NBC.
In October, she stated her intention to relinquish her role as an anchor after 17 years to prioritize her children.
Her departure from NBC is scheduled for 10 January 2025, and Craig Melvin will assume her role on 13 January.
Additionally, Jenna will serve as the host of the program entitled Today with Jenna & Friends.
