When Sarah adopted Max, a lovable golden retriever, she felt an instant connection that made her happy.

She invited him to sleep in her room on their first night together. But as it got dark, she had no idea what would happen.

She put a cozy dog bed beside her, hoping he would be comfortable.

As bedtime approached, Sarah noticed Max lingering near her bed rather than his own.

She couldn’t resist his charm and invited him to sleep with her.

At around midnight, Max suddenly sat up, his ears pricked up, and his eyes fixed on the bedroom door. A low growl came from deep within him.

Sarah woke up with a start when she noticed how tense he was.

Just as she was about to fall asleep again, she heard creaking noises, like footsteps in the hallway. Her breathing got faster.

She felt sure that sleep was impossible now and felt increasingly anxious.

Just as she started to relax, Sarah heard quiet, hard-to-hear voices in the room. She jumped to her feet, her heart beating faster.

Out of nowhere, she felt a light touch on her arm, as if someone had gently touched her. She gasped and turned on the bedside lamp, flooding the room with light.

There was no one there. Max barked loudly, breaking the silence.

Sarah started her research by visiting the local library and reviewing the public records about her property.

Neighbors had whispered about strange happenings.

She found an old newspaper article that caught her attention. It said the previous owner, Mr. Thompson, had disappeared under strange circumstances.

The local historian told Sarah about the strange things that had happened there over the years, including objects moving by themselves, weird sounds, and people seeing shadows.

After some research, Sarah contacted Michael, a well-known paranormal expert. He agreed to investigate.

The meter suddenly went up, and the temperature in the room dropped.

“There’s something here,” Michael whispered. Sarah felt her heart beating faster as she held onto the chair.

Michael suggested they perform a cleansing ritual to eliminate any opposing forces.

Michael moved from room to room, chanting softly and wafting sage smoke into every corner.

After the ritual, they all got together in the living room. “How do you feel?” Michael asked. Sarah paused, thinking about her feelings. “Better,” she admitted.

Max settled down at her feet, looking happy. They felt calm for the first time since everything had started going wrong.

In the days that followed, life began to return to normal. Sarah and Max got into their daily habits, like going for walks in the morning, playing in the park, and relaxing at home in the evenings.

But one evening, Max started acting strangely. He stood in the doorway to the bedroom, looking at the dark hallway and making a low, angry noise.

Just as things seemed to have calmed down, an older man turned up at her door. “I’m looking for the current resident,” he said gently.

He introduced himself as Mr Harris, a friend of the previous homeowner. He was holding an old leather-bound journal. “I think this belongs to the house,” he explained.

Guided by the journal’s descriptions, Sarah and Max searched the house. Behind a tall bookshelf in the study, she found a hidden door.

Among the old things in the room, one photograph caught her eye. It was a picture of the previous owner with a golden retriever that looked very much like Max.

The house no longer felt creepy; it felt like a home entire of history and the chance to make new memories.
