Governor Umo Eno has designated his daughter, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, as the acting First Lady of Akwa Ibom State.

This follows the passing of his esteemed late wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, a woman who left an indelible mark on the state.

On Friday, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, led a united delegation of distinguished individuals, including Hajia Nana Shettima, the Vice President’s wife, and the wives of state governors and presiding officers of the National Assembly. The delegation’s objective was to extend condolences to Governor Eno, showing a strong bond of support.

Senator Tinubu commended Governor Eno’s decision, observing that it aligns with practices followed in the United States and represents a prudent approach to perpetuating the legacy of the late Patience Eno. “I am grateful to God for Patience’s life; though it was brief, she fulfilled her purpose.” “May God provide solace to you, your family, and your children.”

Meanwhile, Governor Eno reflected on the profound connection he shared with his late wife, describing her as a staunch supporter and a discerning critic. He then introduced his daughter as the new acting First Lady.

He stated that the forthcoming period would present a significant challenge. “However, to maintain the Office of the First Lady and continue the work initiated by my late wife, I present our daughter, Helen, as the new office incumbent.”
