Andy Griffith was born in North Carolina and raised as an only child. It is fair to say that Griffith faced some challenges in his early years, which may have impacted him. His parents were not in a position to provide much financial support, so he lived with his relatives until they could save enough for a house.
Griffith clearly had a natural talent for music.
Griffith was awarded his Bachelor of Music degree in 1949. The Andy Griffith Show continued to enjoy a loyal following, airing for an impressive 11 seasons. It was distinctive in that it finished at the top of the ratings. However, Griffith did present a particular challenge. Following a six-month rehabilitation period, he made a full recovery.
In 1986, Griffith made a notable return to television. The legal drama Matlock was a huge success when it was first shown, and it went on to be shown for nine years.
