Princess Beatrice was smiling at a charity event recently held in New York with the Swedish royals, but her appearance caused concern among her longtime friends.
After a rough start to the year, the 34 year-old princess was barely recognizable in photos posted on social media alongside Prince Carl Philippe and Princess Sophia at a dyslexia event.
“Beatrice looks like a shadow of her former self,” says one insider. “It’s sad but not surprising to many of her friends. They’ve worried about her since her father went from hero to zero. The joy of their daughter Sienna’s birth was completely overshadowed by the worst of the family drama.”
Beatrice usually turns to her sister, Princess Eugenie, when times are tough. But lately, their usually strong relationship has been known to reach a climax as the sisters have had disagreements over their loyalties to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The insider says Beatrice tried to warn Eugenie about her alliance with Prince Harry and Meghan.
Since the sisters were not allowed to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during King Charles’ coronation on May 6, Beatrice fears she has been left off the list because she goes places with 33 year-old Eugenie. Our insider thinks she doesn’t want to lose the King’s favor or alienate William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Princess Beatrice is again caught up in her father’s shocking affair with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this year, production began on Netflix’s “Scoop,” which dramatizes Andrew’s disastrous 2019 interview on Newsnight. Bea worked behind the scenes of that acclaimed interview and will appear in Scoop as a character.
“It’s not a good time,” the insider adds.
Friends say Princess Bea and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have put their plans for the birth of their long-awaited second child on hold.
