Italian has overtaken French as the world’s sexiest language, according to a survey by Babbel.

The survey asked 6,000 people from the US, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany which languages they perceived as the most sexy, romantic, and passionate, with Italian coming out on top.

According to Babbel language teacher Noël Wolf, Italian’s musical quality is due to the rise and fall of pitch in spoken Italian.

Additionally, the rolling of ‘r’ sounds is a distinctive phonetic feature that many find charming or attractive.

The survey results revealed that German is the ‘most direct’ language, while British English is considered the ‘most polite.’

The Post contacted Babbel representatives for comment.

According to the company’s 2017 survey of over 15,000 people, French was named the ‘sexiest accent,’ with Italian coming in second.

Linguist Patti Adank, a professor of speech perception and production at University College London, noted that English speakers are drawn to the melody of languages such as French or Italian.

“Thai or Mandarin can sound harsh due to their tonal distinctions,” she explained. “It can sound unnatural and unexpected.”

Linguists report that a new dialect called “Miami English” is becoming prevalent in South Florida.

This dialect, popularized by Hispanic youth born in America, uses English words in Spanish forms.
