Joyce DeWitt became a star with her role in Three’s Company. She has acted in theaters and made cameos for TV. The actress, 74, got her big break in 1977 when she booked the role of Janet Wood on the ABC sitcom.

Despite Suzanne Somers leaving the show in 1980, Joyce DeWitt remained a prominent cast member throughout its eighth-season run, which ended in 1984.

After Suzanne’s death in October 2023, Joyce paid tribute to her former co-star in a statement with People.

“I’m sure angels greeted Suzanne with the loving wisdom waiting for all of us on the other side. I hope that will help her family heal as they travel through this difficult time,” she said.

DeWitt has talked about her time at Three’s Company. In 2003, she made a TV film about it.

After Ritter died in September 2003, DeWitt told Closer Weekly he was a great friend, talented actor, and comedian. She said she missed his presence, smile, and talent.

In 2012, DeWitt appeared on Somers’ talk show. They also talked about their time at Three’s Company together. This was one of the first times the actresses had publicly interacted since they fell out 31 years ago over money on Three’s Company.

After four seasons, Somers was fired from the show for asking for the same pay as John Ritter. ABC refused to pay her more than $30,000 per episode. The show said, “Who do you think you are?” They said, “John Ritter is the star.”

DeWitt and Somers were no longer friends after this. Suzanne Somers talked about money in Breaking Through. “I probably annoyed you all,” Somers said, and they laughed. “If I did, I’m sorry. “I needed money.”

DeWitt said, “It’s time.” You allowed me to live up to my words for 30 years. I’ve always said that Three’s Company is worth remembering because it made us laugh together.

After Somers died in October 2023, DeWitt told PEOPLE, “My heart goes out to Suzanne’s family. They’re a close-knit family.” “I can only imagine how hard this is for them all.”

She also said that angels welcomed Somers into a loving, wise place. I hope this helps her family heal.
