Buffy and Angel had great moments on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, but the best was never shown on TV. Buffy and Angel’s romance shaped the first three seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their journey continued after Angel left Sunnydale for his own Los Angeles-based spinoff. Buffy and Angel crossed over many times.

The pair’s reunions led to some of their best moments, like Angel season 1, episode 8, “I Will Remember You,” which gave them a shot at true happiness and then turned it into a heartbreaking twist. Sarah Michelle Gellar only appeared in Angel in season 1, episode 19, “Sanctuary.” David Boreanaz returned as Angel for Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s final two episodes. There was one reunion that would have been incredible to see.

Buffy & Angel’s Post-Resurrection Reunion Could’ve Been Their Best-Ever Scene

In Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, we see how Angel reacts to Buffy’s death. In Angel season 3, he returns from a long break and still grieves. But not for Angel and Buffy’s reunion after her resurrection. It’s teased in both shows. In Buffy season 6, episode 4, “Flooded,” Buffy has a phone call with Angel and arranges to meet him at “a place.” We don’t see what happens, but in Buffy’s next episode, “Life Serial,” she says it was intense and wants to keep it to herself.

Buffy and Angel have been together for a long time. Their reunion must have been intense, especially since they weren’t just happy. There’s a lot to say. She’s glad to be back, but she’s also been through a lot. This could be one of the most potent scenes between the pair. It could carry the weight of their past and present into an emotional sequence.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer moved to UPN from season 6, while Angel stayed on The WB. Crossovers were complicated because of contracts. Some happened, but not with the biggest stars or for long. AA’s big Buffy/Angel reunion wasn’t possible during seasons 6 and 3, so it happened off-screen.

We don’t know what happened when Buffy and Angel reunited after her death. One theory makes it even more powerful: Buffy’s memories of their day together in “I Will Remember You” were restored. Since Buffy went to Heaven, she could remember her happiest moments and see what happened to her and those she cared about. This would make her memories return, so when she was resurrected, she returned with them.

There’s no confirmation, but the theory fits the missing scene.

The Buffy comics didn’t explain what happened when Buffy and Angel reunited.

After Buffy and Angel reunite, the Scooby Gang wonders what happened between them. Xander imagines Angel in danger and needing Buffy’s help. Dawn imagines a romantic meeting. Anya imagines Buffy telling Angel a secret at a Denny’s. But a fire demon interrupts. It came from a spell by Willow. It gets into their minds. Buffy stops it in the real world.

This comic shows that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer team didn’t want audiences to know what happened between Buffy and Angel after her resurrection. It would’ve been tremendous, and it would’ve been hard to live up to expectations.
