Over the past several months, Jelly Roll has engaged in a rigorous fitness regimen, and his efforts have paid off.
The 39-year-old, born Jason Bradley DeFord, formerly weighed over 500 lbs. However, in recent years, he lost nearly 200 lbs; since January, he has lost an additional 70 lbs.
His weight loss was evident at Thursday’s 2024 ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas, where he appeared confident as he posed for photos on the red carpet alongside his wife, Bunnie Xo.
Jelly Roll, who is scheduled to perform a new song at the ceremony and has been nominated for four awards, arrived in black pants, a matching knee-length T-shirt, and a buttery brown leather jacket.
He could not conceal his joy as he shared a kiss with his wife, who was resplendent in a royal blue strapless dress embellished with gold accents in the presence of photographers.
In a recent interview, the country music artist disclosed that he is experiencing a sense of well-being following an increase in his fitness regimen in preparation for the 2 Bears 5K race he participated in in Los Angeles on May 7.
To elucidate his more salutary lifestyle, he stated, “I have likely lost approximately 70 pounds.” I have been performing exceptionally well, it must be said.
“I am currently engaged in a regimen of two to three miles per day, performed six days per week.” I take 20 to 30 minutes of sauna therapy daily, interspersed with a six-minute cold plunge. “I am currently consuming a nutritionally sound diet,” he added.
The completion of the race does not signify a cessation of the newly adopted fitness approach or a reduction in the 100-pound weight loss goal.
He continued, “I believe the most remarkable aspect was the number of individuals who expressed motivation to pursue similar goals, specifically those of larger stature. It was a fascinating observation to witness the diversity of participants. Even a man participated in the race while wearing a bear costume.”
While the race was more challenging than anticipated, he has set his sights on even more outstanding achievements in the future, particularly after developing a passion for competitive racing.
