A High Court in Kano state has issued a permanent restraining order against the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and four other former Emirs, preventing them from claiming the title.

On Monday, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu presided over the court and delivered the ruling.

The judgment explicitly prohibits the former Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, Karaye, and their servants and agents from parading themselves as Emirs.

Furthermore, the court has prohibited their servants, associates, or appointees from aiding them.

The Kano State government had filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the deposed Emirs from continuing to use their royal titles and occupy their palaces. Additionally, the government extended a 48-hour ultimatum to vacate their respective palaces after they were deposed.
