In a world where babies are named Se7en, Simba, and Elae (pronounced L.A.), it genuinely takes a lot to horrify experienced staff in the delivery room. But one name recently did just that.

A Reddit user from Germany shared what labor and delivery nurses at their local hospital had all agreed was the worst baby name they had ever seen: Richie Rich Putin.

Yes, that’s Richie Rich. And that Putin.

The name is a strange mix of the fictional 1980s cartoon billionaire and the Russian president, and it has been hard to forget for hospital workers — and apparently, Reddit users as well. “I just felt like I had to share that while lying awake thinking about my soon-to-be-born child’s name,” the commenter wrote. The post quickly went viral, and people expressed disdain on social media.

“Do parents hate their child that much?” asked one person who read it. “Or do they think it’s funny and not think about the child’s future?”

“That poor child,” wrote another. “Can you imagine all the oligarchs kissing up to the people in charge there?”

Labor nurses say this is the worst baby name ever!

Germany is usually known for having strict name laws that reject names that might cause embarrassment or harm, but somehow, this one got through. “I used to think the laws about names are stricter here than in other countries,” the person who first wrote about it said. “But not.”

Sadly, Richie Rich Putin is not the only one. Some people think it’s strange that some parents choose unusual names for their babies these days. Some parents get their baby’s name from a Disney character or select a name that sounds like a place name. In the UK, a mother recently became an online sensation when she revealed that she had named her daughter Elae, claiming that it was a basic form of English. “I didn’t know people wouldn’t be able to understand,” she said in a now-famous video.

Various countries have deemed some names so unacceptable that they’ve been banned. These include Sex Fruit (New Zealand), Robocop (Mexico), Monkey (Denmark), Cyanide (UK) and Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii (also New Zealand). Germany once banned Osama bin Laden, and Portugal drew the line at Thor.

But for some reason, Putin made it past the paperwork.

Roll call will be brutal, but let’s think about the hospital staff who had to say it out loud without smiling. One nurse explained it well: “It’s a concern that keeps me awake at night.”
