It can happen to anyone. You might wake up with the intention of going to the kitchen for a glass of water, but then forget all about it as soon as you enter the room. These episodes are widespread, but it’s essential to watch out for sure signs that could show there’s a problem, especially if someone starts to show signs of Alzheimer’s. Dr. Daniel Amen, a psychiatrist and researcher from California, has identified four signs to watch out for.

Here are the four warning signs of Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Amen says that the first sign to watch out for is memory problems that have occurred over the last 10 years. “Most people think this is the case. In this case, there’s an 80% chance that the situation will continue to worsen.” The second is poor judgment and acting impulsively. This means that the part of the brain that controls behaviour is not working as well as it should.

The third sign is that they have a short attention span and are easily distracted. This is not the same as ADHD, but it is getting worse over time. The last sign is feeling sad or depressed most of the time. Dr. Amen also said that some behaviours can make it more likely that a person will develop dementia. These include being very overweight, having low energy, erectile dysfunction, and not being able to sleep for a long time.
