Alina Lozano, a 55-year-old Colombian actress, and her actor husband, Jim Velászuez, who is 31 years younger, recently announced that they are expecting their first child.

The news was shared on social media, leading many of their followers to believe that the actors, who often record skits, were amid a prank.

The couple got married in September 2023 and recently announced the results of a positive pregnancy test.

In response to a comment doubting the authenticity of the test, they recorded a video showing the test strip up close.

On Tuesday, the couple shared another video. Velásquez claimed they spent 100 million pesos, a little over $26,000, in the process.

In a separate video, Lozano explained how she became pregnant despite being in the menopause stage.

She said, ‘Some people have told us that we are stupid; they believe we are stupid.’ It is commonly believed that a menopausal woman cannot get pregnant naturally, but it seems that way to her.

It is possible to conceive with assisted reproduction even when eggs are not present. Menopausal women without eggs must find an egg donor and go through a lengthy process. Millions of women worldwide undergo this process.

According to Lozano, the process is challenging. She discovered her pregnancy after a third test.

‘I want to motivate all women who desire to become pregnant at this age,’ she said.

Lozano has appeared in over 40 network soap operas and series in Colombia. She was previously married to Cuban actor Mijail Mulkay.

According to Health.com, a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant decreases after the age of 30. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, although it can occur earlier or later.

During menopause, women who are still interested in becoming pregnant should consult their doctors.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an option for women like Lozano.

People in the post-menopausal stage can use their previously frozen eggs, embryos, or donated eggs. The IVF process involves fertilizing an egg with sperm and transferring the resulting embryo to the uterus.
