Duane Chapman, better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, is a professional bounty hunter and television personality. He gained widespread fame in 2003 after the high-profile arrest of Andrew Luster, the heir to the Max Factor cosmetics empire, who was fleeing trial for sexual assault.

The success of this operation led Chapman to television: his work became the subject of documentaries and later his own reality show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, which premiered in 2004 and ran for eight seasons. Viewers not only witnessed Duane’s dangerous work but also became closely acquainted with his family—his wife, Beth, and their children.

The show ended in 2012. The show ended due to internal conflicts within the family: Duane’s sons, Duane Lee Chapman II and Leland Chapman, stopped working with their father in 2011. These disagreements played a key role in the show’s demise.

Despite this, Chapman did not retire from the small screen. From 2013 to 2015, he and his wife, Beth, starred in the CMT show Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, and in 2019, another project, Dog’s Most Wanted, premiered, lasting one season.

Alongside their professional lives, the family endured difficult times. In 2017, Beth Chapman was diagnosed with throat cancer. Her battle with the disease was chronicled in the A&E special Dog & Beth: Fight of Their Lives. Two years later, on June 26, 2019, Beth passed away at the age of 51. Duane and Beth had been married since 2006 and raised three children—Bonnie, Harry, and an adopted daughter, Cecily.

In 2021, Chapman remarried to Francie Chapman. The couple initially lived in Colorado and moved to Marco Island, Florida, in 2023. According to Francie, they are now focused on creating a strong community and an active social life.

The couple devotes most of their time to charity work. Their D.O.G. Foundation supports victims of human trafficking, providing housing, psychological counseling, life skills training, and rehabilitation programs.

Duane Chapman is the father of multiple children with six women. He has sons Duane Lee II and Leland from his first marriage, and several children from subsequent relationships, including the late Zebadiah and Barbara. In 2023, he learned of another son, John. After marrying Francie, Chapman also became a stepfather to her two sons.

This summer, a tragic incident occurred: Chapman’s stepson, Gregory Zecca, was involved in an accidental shooting that killed his 13-year-old son, Anthony. Police ruled the incident an accident and did not press charges. Duane and Francie expressed deep shock and grief, calling the incident “incomprehensible.”
