Mary Berg became a culinary sensation in Canada after entering a cooking competition on a whim despite having yet to gain professional experience. Her endearing personality and relatability made her a hit with viewers and TV producers, leading to her show, ‘Mary’s Kitchen Crush.’

Success came quickly for Berg, who began hosting another show called ‘Mary Makes It Easy.’ In this show, she shares quick and easy-to-prepare recipes in her quirky and relatable style. 

Mary Berg’s TV career started when she was a contestant on MasterChef Canada.

She first gained attention from Canadian viewers when she was selected to compete in the third season of ‘MasterChef Canada,’ a Canadian version of the popular Fox series. 

Berg quickly reached the top 10 and proved to be a hit with viewers. 

In 2018, Bell Media announced that Mary Berg, trained to work in insurance, would be hosting her own food-themed TV series, ‘ Mary’s Kitchen Crush.’  The show went into production later that year.

Despite overcoming a massive tragedy in her personal life, Berg has been candid about her experiences. According to an interview in WealthSimple, when she was just four, a severe car crash changed her family’s life forever. Her father was killed, while her mother and brother were both seriously injured and needed a lot of rehabilitation to be able to do anything again. Miraculously, Berg suffered no severe injuries.

In an interview with She Does the City, Berg mentioned embracing the growing mainstream popularity of Filipino cuisine. 

Her go-to recipe for an impressive meal is a frittata, which she believes is suitable for any time of day. 

Filming from her kitchen provides an informal look at the TV cook in her natural habitat. 

Mary Berg doesn’t eat the steak, burger, or pork dishes she creates, but she does eat fish and considers herself a pescatarian.

Since her first successful publication, Mary has released two more cookbooks:

‘Well Seasoned,’ which came out in October 2021, and ‘In Mary’s Kitchen,’ released more recently in October 2023.

These new recipe collections have received high ratings from fans, book reviewers, and home cooks alike. 

Mary was recently featured in a series of false advertisements on X.

Unfortunately, this is the sting that can accompany stardom. Mary Berg has been the target of false and bizarre ads on X, formerly known as Twitter. These ads feature falsified photographs of the chef being arrested. One of these pop-ups reads, “Mary Berg’s career is over after her on-air remarks!” beside a picture of the star being handcuffed.

“Twitter is serving me the weirdest type of ad now: badly photoshopped images of a TV host getting arrested,” said one comment on X. “Mary Berg has done nothing except wear cool glasses and cook.”
