Social media users were amused by Jason Kelce’s behavior at the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl victory party. In videos shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Jason drunkenly hopped onto the DJ stand to vibe to the music. Later, he stumbled into a bush while trailing behind his brother, Travis Kelce, and Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

It is worth noting that Jason’s parents divorced before he headed off to college.

Jason and Travis Kelce had a difficult home life despite being close to their parents. In the 2023 ‘Kelce’ documentary, Travis revealed that during his middle school years, he knew his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, were not getting along.

Their marriage of almost 25 years eventually ended in a separation.

Splitting up allowed them to split responsibilities. It also allowed them to show up for their sons consistently and gave Jason and Travis more freedom to pursue their athletic endeavors.

According to a 2023 episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast, Jason Kelce developed increased aggression after being bullied in childhood.

He and his brother, Travis Kelce, were kicked out of preschool. The Eagles center remembered playing with sporks with another kid when Jason lost his temper and stabbed him in the head with one. This incident led to Jason’s expulsion. According to The Athletic’s profile on the NFL star, Jason’s aggressive behavior worsened with age, resulting in his frequent expulsion from elementary schools.

Jason realized that his temper issues originated from a childhood incident. His father, Ed Kelce, had encouraged him to stand up to a neighborhood bully.

Although Jason admitted that sometimes he misinterpreted situations and believed someone was being unkind to him when it wasn’t the case, he was not the one bullying other kids. He often stepped in to help those who were being picked on. Ultimately, Jason found a much healthier outlet for his aggression: sports.

Despite being seriously injured, he continued playing.

NFL players exemplify the phrase ‘No pain, no gain’ by giving their all even when injured. Jason Kelce is no exception. In a 2012 game against the Baltimore Ravens, he suffered brutal knee injuries, including a torn MCL and a partial ACL tear. The NFL confirmed his injuries and noted that he would need at least a month off from football to recover fully.

However, the pro-athlete’s recovery time ended up being longer because he chose to have surgery for his ailments. Jason finally returned to the field in 2013. He told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he could have better protected himself from the tears with knee braces. The NFL star did not wear braces because other players did not frequently wear them, and they do not prevent injury with 100% certainty.

However, he vowed to keep them on through the 2013 season. Jason understandably didn’t want to go under the knife for his ACL ever again. Unfortunately, he suffered through another painful NFL season in 2018. Crossing Board reports that he gave the games his best shot despite having a broken foot, an MCL sprain, and an elbow injury. Fortunately, Jason’s decision to endure his pain wasn’t in vain since the Eagles won the 2018 Super Bowl. In 2022, the team confirmed that their center would undergo elbow surgery to alleviate his consistent pain.

Jason Kelce had to consider retirement seriously.

In his book ‘Kelce,’ he confessed that playing his beloved game had become difficult due to his extensive injuries. The pro athlete tearfully asserted that even relatively minor wounds sustained during play could cause him severe problems in the long run if he didn’t eventually walk away. Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, notes that the public often overlooks how Jason’s injuries severely impact their family life and prevent him from playing with their three daughters. Kylie would prefer if her partner left his football career behind when he wasn’t severely injured so that he could spend quality time with his kids.
