Kate Middleton wrote an emotional letter to the Irish Guards apologizing for missing Saturday morning’s rehearsal for the Trooping the Colour.

“I’m proud of the Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s review and Trooping of the [Color]. I appreciate everyone who has been practicing for months and dedicating many hours to ensure their uniforms and drill are immaculate,” Middleton’s letter read.

Trooping the Colour is an annual parade held in London each June to celebrate King Charles’ birthday.

Middleton is the Irish Guards colonel. Charles appointed her last year.

“It’s an honor to be your colonel, but I can’t take the salute at this year’s review,” the letter said. “Please tell the regiment I’m sorry, but I hope to represent you soon.”

“Please send my best wishes and luck to everyone.”

Middleton was replaced by Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE, at the Colonel’s Review. According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, she is still recovering.

It’s unclear if she will attend Trooping the Colour, but she might appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The Princess of Wales has been out of the public eye since she told the world she had cancer in March.

A source told Us Weekly that she may never return to her previous role.

The guard said the Princess of Wales’ letter touched Wales.’

The guard told X, “We wish her well and send her our best wishes.”

In March, Middleton paid $2,500 for the Irish Guard at the Aldershot bar when she missed St. Patrick’S Patrick’s aid.
