Governor Fubara has suspended the Chairman of the Rivers Local Government Area.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has taken quick action, announcing the immediate suspension of Otonye Briggs, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.

The governor gave the order in a statement released Tuesday in Port Harcourt by his media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, and sent to the press.

The statement didn’t say why Briggs was suspended, but the governor has appointed Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as his replacement.

The statement said that the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Barrister Otonye Briggs, has been suspended immediately.

“The Governor has asked Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye to take over as Chairman immediately.

“Barrister Otonye Briggs is to hand over all council property to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.”
