Michael Schumacher reportedly attended his daughter's wedding in Mallorca, Spain. This would be his first public appearance since 2013. Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has reportedly made his first public appearance since his near-fatal skiing accident in 2013. Schumacher's family has kept all news about him under wraps since the accident, and hardly any people he knew in the sport during his prolific career have met him since. However, European media reports said Schumacher might have been at his daughter's wedding in Mallorca, Spain. If so, it would be the first time he'd been seen in public in over a decade. According to the German newspaper Bild, Schumacher was "quite possibly" at the family's villa to bless the union of his daughter Gina-Maria and Iain Bethke. He would unlikely have appeared at the estate's huge garden, where guests other than close family members were present. Multiple sources also report that guests were asked to hand over their phones so that photos of the event wouldn't be leaked. Even so, photos of the party in the garden made it into the media. While Ralf Schumacher, Michael's brother and a former Formula One driver, was there, Michael himself was absent. The family has been tight-lipped about Schumacher, but some news has leaked out, and a few people have even made on-the-record statements about the former Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes driver. Over the years, news about Schumacher's health has indicated that he is paralyzed and in a wheelchair, unable to speak, and experiencing memory issues. Former F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, closer to Schumacher and the family, said he wasn't doing well. Schumacher is regarded as one of the best Formula 1 drivers ever and one of the sport's most iconic figures. He won seven world titles between 1994 and 2004, the most by any driver until Lewis Hamilton equaled it in 2020. When he retired, Schumacher held the records for most wins (91), pole positions (68), and podium finishes (155). He also holds the record for most fastest laps (77), among other records. Schumacher won his first two titles driving for Benetton in 1994 and 1995. In 1996, he joined a struggling Ferrari team. Even though he didn't win the title in the last two races of the 1997 and 1998 seasons, Schumacher and Ferrari dominated the sport for five seasons between 2000 and 2004, winning five consecutive drivers' championships. Schumacher retired in 2006 but then returned to race for Mercedes between 2010 and 2012. Schumacher is also known for boosting the popularity of Formula 1 and motorsport.
