Ellen, who will be 67 on 26 January, filmed her talk show in the Los Angeles area for 19 years. So, while she and Portia, 51, may have been planning their big move for a while, news that they'd changed not just zip codes but country codes in the fall of 2024 came as a bit of a shock. But while Ellen did tell her crowd in Santa Rosa, Calif., in July that "this is the last time you're going to see me," she didn't let on during the tour that she planned on leaving the country. Instead, she and Portia sold their home in Montecito and moved to a farmhouse in the Cotswolds. Ellen said this was not flooded during heavy rains in November despite reports of flooding. However, people had been suspecting something for a while. In her unique, Ellen said she had been "kicked out of show business." Portia, known for her roles in TV, had already decided to stop acting when she agreed to play Lindsay Bluth again in the fifth season of Arrested Development in 2018. Portia, who loves horses and animals, had already started an art company called General Public after being written off of Scandal the year before. She can do it from anywhere with an internet connection. Ellen and Portia also walked around their village last month, looking like locals in their coats and wellies. Ellen and Portia have been buying and selling expensive houses for 20 years. They have lived in many homes in the affluent area of Santa Barbara County, about 90 miles north of Los Angeles. There are many old houses in the Cotswolds that the couple could buy and sell. Famous people like Kate Moss, Hugh Grant, and Jamie Dornan have also bought houses in the Cotswolds, so this could be another way for the couple to spend their time in England. The host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is no longer hosting her talk show after 19 seasons. This is because there were claims that the workplace was not good, which led to an investigation, the firing of some executives, and people criticizing the show. According to many news outlets, Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have since moved to England, reportedly because of Donald Trump's 2024 election win.
