A giraffe feeding experience at a Texas wildlife center was the subject of a negative review last week. This incident occurred when one of the animals picked up a toddler from the rear of the truck in which she was traveling.

NBC News received a video from Jason Toten, the toddler’s father. As illustrated in the video, the subject’s daughter is observed wearing pigtails and a pink shirt. She is depicted holding her hand out of the back of a truck, presumably in an attempt to feed a giraffe during their tour.

The giraffe makes contact with the girl’s head, moving in closer proximity as she moves further into the truck bed. The video then appears to show the animal grabbing the girl and lifting her into the air.

In the background, a woman’s scream is audible.

Warren Lewis, the marketing director at the center, stated that on Monday, they were informed of an “incident involving one of our giraffes” that had occurred during the previous weekend.

This incident marks the first occurrence of this nature at Fossil Rim, and they are implementing “immediate action to prevent its recurrence.”

A recent regulation has been implemented that prohibits visitors from traversing the park on the rear portion of a truck.

Toten expressed his and his family’s sorrow at the news that visitors will no longer be permitted to ride in the back of trucks but that he and his family intend to return to the park. He asserted that it is an “excellent location,” particularly for children who have a particular affinity for animals.

The incident was unintentional on the part of the giraffe. Toten remarked, “It was simply one of those things that happened.”

“Our feelings towards the giraffe are not rooted in anger. We are not expressing anger towards the park,” he added.
