A serious conflict between parents and teenagers erupted at a private school graduation ceremony in Recife. According to eyewitnesses, the disturbance was sparked by the song “Helicóptero” performed by DJ Guuga and MC Pierre. However, witnesses claim the track had been played at least twice before at the event without causing any adverse reaction.
A guest at the ceremony (who asked not to be identified) told G1 that the incident occurred around 4:40 a.m., when DJ Vitor Bayma was performing. In the midst of the performance, the father of one of the students climbed onto the stage, grabbed the DJ by the arm, and began harshly expressing his dissatisfaction with the song’s lyrics.
The graduation ceremony for third-grade students at Colégio Madre de Deus took place on Saturday night (the 13th) at the Classic Hall concert hall in Olinda. According to eyewitnesses, during the performance, teenagers took to the stage, singing and dancing along with the DJ. A man took advantage of this moment and decided to intervene.
Witnesses noted that the father appeared intoxicated, spoke aggressively, and insisted on ending the performance. He claimed the song’s lyrics were inappropriate for minors. Eyewitnesses believe his irritation may have stemmed not only from the song’s content but also from its musical style—the funk version was the final straw.
“Kadu Martins and Lipe Lucena had previously performed this same song, but in a forró style, and there were no problems. Things only escalated the third time. I think it was either the funk or the man’s intoxication,” the witness said.
After DJ Vitor Bayma stopped the music, those in attendance noticed that their parents’ intervention had disrupted the performance. This was the starting point for the conflict. According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated when the father tried to eject the DJ from the event.
Videos circulating online show people shouting, pushing between tables and chairs, and one girl pulling furniture aside to make room. Some students tried to separate adults, while others were crying and appeared to be in a state of extreme stress.
The Madre de Deus school administration stated that they were not involved in organizing the prom. They said the company Super A Formaturas was responsible for the event.
The song “Helicóptero,” released in 2019, depicts a scene involving two men and a woman in a helicopter. The lyrics contain explicit and threatening language, suggesting that the woman is being forced into sex by threats to eject her from the aircraft.
Despite its controversial nature, the song is immensely popular, with over 66 million streams on Spotify. In 2023, DJ Guuga and MC Pierre released a sequel, “Helicóptero 2,” which also garnered over 10 million views.
