Yet, this method periodically gains popularity on social media and among advocates of simple household habits. So why do people even decide to experiment with salt before bed? The main reason is the desire to improve sleep quality without pills, expensive supplements, or complicated evening rituals. Those who practice this method attribute it to sodium, a mineral that the body needs for the normal functioning of the nervous system and muscles, and for maintaining water and salt balance. What happens to the salt under the tongue? There are a large number of blood vessels under the tongue so that some substances can be absorbed through the mucous membrane more quickly than through the normal gastrointestinal tract. And if insomnia is persistent, a person regularly wakes up at night, or feels extremely tired during the day, it's better to address the underlying cause rather than trying to mask the problem with salt.
