The Washingtonian reports that residents of the liberal neighborhood are mainly indifferent to the Vances' presence. However, a local artist did "yarn-bomb" an area outside the home, hanging crocheted Pride, bi flags, trans flags, and a pink sign that read "Respect our Rights." "I'm not the only person who was a bit surprised and, to be honest, a bit disappointed that someone who had expressed such negative views about the people who live here and the values we hold had decided to move in nearby," the yarn artist told the Washingtonian. "Given this person's public history of antagonism towards LGBTQ people, immigrants, and women's rights, we felt it was important to declare our stance in this community publicly."
