However, it was her music career that brought her stardom. When Janet was 50, she gave birth to a child with her then-husband, Qatar-born Wissam Al Mana. After the boy's birth, it was only three months later that the couple separated after five years of marriage, marking Wissam's third divorce from Janet. According to the testimony of her brother Randy, who accompanied Janet to divorce court, his sister endured "verbal abuse" from billionaire Al Mana. She felt like a "prisoner in her own home." So, in June 2018, Janet called the police and asked them to check on the child's health while Ace was in his father's care.
