Tom Cruise is one of the world’s biggest stars. Having starred in countless blockbuster movies, with a host of awards and accolades, he has millions of fans around the globe.

Cruise was born on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, New York.

In 1971, when Cruise was nine years old, his family moved to Canada, where his father had gone to work for the Canadian Armed Forces. It was there that Cruise began to show his talent for performing. He organized an improvised musical play with six of his classmates.

Cruise has spoken candidly about his mother’s hard work and incredible attempts to keep the family supported on her own.

So the young Cruise went to New York City, where he waited tables, worked as a busboy, and went to as many auditions as possible.

American singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa famously romanced Cruise. Scialfa had just finished touring with Bruce Springsteen. She would later marry him.

You may be surprised that Cruise also had a dalliance with legendary diva Cher in the late Eighties.

Cruise first met Cher, 16 years his senior, in Malibu in 1986, where they were both attending Sean Penn and Madonna’s wedding.

While filming Days of Thunder in 1990, 28-year-old Cruise met 23-year-old actress Nicole Kidman, and there was an instant attraction between the two, and they got married that same year. During their 11-year marriage, they adopted two children together.

In 1999, Cruise and Kidman surprised the world when they decided to star together in Stanley Kubrick’s erotic drama Eyes Wide Shut, a surprising – but successful – career move for both of them.

But the couple split up not long after, in early 2001.

The reason why the two broke up remains unknown. 

It didn’t take long for Cruise to move on. His next high-profile romance was with Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. The beautifully named Cruise and Cruz met while filming their 2001 hit Vanilla Sky and began dating soon after.

The couple were together for three years before splitting in 2004.

Cruise surprised the world by proposing to actress Katie Holmes. She is 16 years his junior, 

For a while, the relationship between the two was the most talked about story in the entertainment world. 2006 Tom and Katie welcomed their daughter, Suri, into the world.

In 2012, Holmes and Cruise ended their highly publicized relationship. 

After the break-up, Holmes started dating Jamie Foxx. However, they called it quits in 2019.

Although the actor is approaching 60, he certainly shows no signs of slowing down.
