Melania Trump’s mother was a fashion designer in Slovenia before moving to the United States. She became an American citizen with the help of her model daughter. Melania’s father sold cars, so it’s no surprise she fell for Donald Trump, a billionaire known for his car collection. Donald has held car shows at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, and even had Tesla founder Elon Musk on his board of advisers. After they got married, Donald and Melania added to their impressive garage.
What are Melania’s favorite cars? Some social media posts hint at what Melania drives.
A $600,000 gull-wing Mercedes McLaren
In 2006, she appeared in a Vogue photo shoot while pregnant with her son Barron. She posed on the steps of the Trump jet, showing off her baby bump in a bikini, body paint, and long coat. Donald posed in a flashy car next to her.
Melania liked the shoot so much that in 2014, she shared a New York Post article about it.
The article “Hot Mama Melania Ready for Take-Off” said her husband sat off to the side in a $600,000 Mercedes SLR McLaren he gave her last year.
In 2017, Stephen Goldasz of Car Keys told Insider that the car was launched in 2003 and is “probably the most intriguing Mercedes Donald has owned.”
Melania also posted about another Mercedes-Benz on Instagram in 2014. She called the car a “fun summer ride.” One fan said it was the Mercedes 220 SE Ponton, a 1959 convertible in which her stepdaughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner have also been seen.
The presidential limousine is a bombproof Cadillac.
The limousine was modeled after the Cadillac DTS during Barack and Michelle Obama’s time in the White House. In 2017, Donald and Melania Trump were given a new bulletproof Cadillac One model, designed to be a stretched version of the Cadillac XT6 sedan.
The vehicle that Donald and Melania used for four years was one of 12 under a US$1.58 million contract. Each weighed around 9,100kg and was designed to fend off threats. The limo was built on a modified truck chassis and could store Donald’s blood type in an emergency.
The couple already knew the carmaker behind the Cadillac. 2005 Donald appeared at the New York International Auto Show with Bob Lutz. They held a news conference on the new Cadillac XLR-V. In 2013, Donald and Melania sat beside Ed Welburn at an Escalade launch event. The Washington Post reported this in 2017. Donald had a Trump Executive Series line of limos with the company. He called it the ultimate limousine. They never made it to the road.
In his book, Donald said the company gave him a gold Cadillac Allanté. In 2016, the Trump campaign told The Washington Post that Donald owned a Cadillac Escalade and a Tesla.
A gold-decorated bike from Orange County Choppers.
In 2012, American Chopper Paul Teutul Sr. gave Donald a gold bike. The motorcycle from Orange County Choppers is made of 24-carat gold and has Donald’s name on it. Donald loved the ride because it was American.
In 2014, Melania tweeted a photo of the bike designed for Donald. “Ready to ride.”
The family ride – a Rolls-Royce Phantom
In 2014, Barron Trump was pictured riding in the passenger seat of the family’s Rolls-Royce Phantom, which costs US$500,000. It was the family’s car for a casual Sunday trip that autumn. Melania posted another photo of them on a rainy afternoon.
In a photo from earlier that year, Donald is driving while Barron is in the front passenger seat, and Melania is in the back. She tweeted that she loves her driver and security.
Goldasz told Insider 2017 that the Trumps also own a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, which can sell for up to US$112,000.
