The governors affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have articulated a definitive stance on the protracted political crisis between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Ireporteronline notes that Fubara and Wike have been engaged in a prolonged dispute, which has fragmented the State House of Assembly and raised concerns about the PDP leadership’s lack of intervention.

However, in a communiqué signed by the chairman of the party’s Forum and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the PDP Governors stood united and declared their unwavering support for Fubara following their meeting in Enugu on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the Governors reaffirmed their commitment to peace and resolved to engage in broader consultations with pertinent stakeholders to facilitate a peaceful resolution.

The communiqué read as follows: The Forum has resolved to support His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State while initiating broader consultations with relevant stakeholders to facilitate a peaceful resolution and identify a long-term solution to the ongoing crisis.

Furthermore, the Governors expressed discontent with the country’s prevailing circumstances and urged Nigerians to refrain from engaging in acts of anarchy.

Furthermore, the communiqué stated that the 16 years of remarkable growth and development under the PDP-led Federal Government, during which the country experienced single-digit inflation, the establishment of robust anti-corruption institutions, and a notable improvement in the standard of living for all Nigerians, has been undermined during the tenure of the APC-led Federal Government.

In these challenging times, the Forum seeks to inspire the Nigerian populace with a vision of a return to a previous era of economic stability and prosperity.

In this context, the meeting expressed appreciation for the innovative approaches to governance demonstrated by Governors of PDP-controlled states, particularly in infrastructure, education, health, women and youth initiatives, and the timely delivery of developmental projects across the country.
