The Osmond family has been in the spotlight for more than four decades. Many have escaped the temptations of the rock and roll lifestyle, but that hasn’t stopped some members of the Osmond family from facing challenges. Marie Osmond said she lost about 47 pounds during the Flamingo show in Las Vegas and while competing on Dancing with the Stars.

We can imagine what hard work it was! However, Marie is not bitter about the hard work, saying, “I had to be healthy.” 

When the Donny & Marie show began in 1976, Donny was only 17. However, he did not work a 9-to-5 job like most other 17-year-olds.

The Osmond siblings’ work schedules were so intense that they could not compare to other celebrities. They were known to work 20 hours a day, learning new songs, new dance numbers, and dozens of different scripts. 

One of the worst revelations of the century was Marie Osmond’s admission that there was a dark secret behind her angelic eyes and sweet smile.

Describing in her book Behind the Smile, Marie recounts the intimate abuse she suffered as a child. 

At just 15, Marie Osmond recalls how hard it was for her, especially regarding the need to stay slim.

The couple were offered to host their TV show, but producers threatened to cancel it if she didn’t lose weight. At the time, her weight was only 103 pounds, but she stopped eating to lose 97 pounds. Producers said she was “obese, disgusting, and a disgrace to my family.”

Donny, not Donnie

Hardly anyone likes having their name misspelled, and Donny Osmond is no exception. It pissed him off when people spelled his name with an “ie” instead of a “y” at the end.

Donny and Marie were only sometimes a formidable couple. They were in the ’70s and are now in Vegas.

In the 1980s, they split off in different directions to pursue solo careers. However, we missed the Osmonds together, so we were over the moon when they decided to team up again for their Las Vegas show. 

Their dressing rooms may be right next to each other, but that doesn’t mean they spend time together all the time. It’s rare to see Donny and Marie together, even during off hours. He said that he prefers to go home and see his wife and kids when he has free time, which makes sense.

Even though Donny went through terrible events in his family life, it didn’t stop him from trying to create his own happy family.

At 20 and the peak of his career, Donnie married Debra Glenn in the Salt Lake Temple. The couple subsequently had five children, all sons: Donald Clark Jr, Jeremy James, Brandon Michael, Christopher Glenn, and Joshua Davis. All clan members can often be seen together having an incredible time, whether on vacation or at church.

Additionally, Marie has an adopted daughter, Jessica Blosil, who Marie’s book claims is an openly LGBTQ member.

During Diane Sawyer’s Man of the Year award ceremony, Marie admitted that she cried when Jessica first opened up to her when she was only 17. According to Marie, she cried because of the judgment from those around her because she had many friends who belonged to the LGBT community, saying: “I don’t want this to happen to my child.”

Considering all of this has been going on for decades, it’s just unbelievable that it wasn’t even recently that Donny and Marie were performing together in Las Vegas. Starting in 2008, they performed on stage in front of an enthusiastic audience with their old television set. Their performance has gotten a lot of publicity, and they were even honored with a Best of Show award in 2012, which shows how much people enjoy watching this duo.

Considering that the Osmonds were very popular in their day, it’s only natural that they had many connections in the music industry. One such relationship in particular was with rock and roll legend Elvis Presley. Elvis was very fond of Olive Osmond, their mother, and would often call her on the phone to talk to her. At the same time, he always ensured that there were flowers in their hotel rooms to make Olive happy.
