On March 26, Redditor XiaoHao2 shared the outcome of the dangerous mission, which was believed to have occurred during the 2020 lockdown.

While in China, the author flew a drone over the border and captured images of North Korea, providing insight into life there.

The Reddit post featuring the drone photos received 138,000 upvotes in just 48 hours.

Some of the images show North Korean residents appearing to spot the drone.

The Redditor’s photographs included buildings, including a government building.

The streets of North Korea appear empty in the photos, but recent images show signs of life.

Photographer Pedro Pardo has recently captured images of life on the other side of the Chinese and North Korean border.

Padro accessed a remote part of North Korea’s border with China in Jilin province to take photos between February 26 and March 1 this year.

The photos were taken shortly before Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report about North Korea titled ‘A Sense of Terror, Stronger than a Bullet: The Closing of North Korea 2018–2023’.

The photos show the North Korean town of Chunggang with a sign reading ‘My country is the best.’

The report, published on March 7, states that North Korea is one of the most repressive countries in the world. The North Korean government, led by third-generation hereditary totalitarian leader Kim Jong Un, has controlled its population through violence and fear for decades. They use arbitrary detention, torture, unfair trials leading to executions, enforced disappearance, and other serious human rights violations to maintain unquestioned obedience.

Since taking power in 2011, North Korea’s annual exports have drastically decreased from almost $4 billion to just $248 million in 2022, according to HRW.

However, one person captured incredible footage by flying a drone from China into North Korea.

It can be challenging to enter or exit the country.

People are amazed by the footage.

During a trip to China, a Reddit user flew his drone over the border and took several pictures. He shared some of these pictures on social media, and the post has since gone viral with over 130,000 upvotes.

The images show the outside of a building decorated with portraits of North Korean founders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il.

These rare images provide a glimpse into life inside the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). Before the country closed its borders, visitors were only allowed to take pictures of public tourist sights, and anything else was considered illegal.

Four years after Kim Jong-un made North Korea even more private, photographer Pedro Pardo captured images of life on the other side of the Chinese and North Korean border.

The photos were taken between February 26 and March 1 of this year and show soldiers and photographers working on the border, as seen from Tumen.

Pardo managed to access a remote part of North Korea’s border with China in Jilin province to take the photos.

Pardo took several photographs, including a government building in Namyang, North Korean soldiers working on the border as seen from Tumen in China, and the town of Chunggang with its dozens of identical-looking houses.

According to Independent reports, HRW analyzed satellite images of North Korea’s borders and found that between 2020 and 2023, the country built 482 km of new fencing and improved another 260km of existing primary fencing.

As of April 2023, some fences were still being erected.

The number of people escaping from North to South Korea tripled last year, according to The Guardian.

Almost 200 people managed to flee to the neighboring country despite North Korea’s increasing restrictions on travel.
