After application, wait 5-10 minutes for the mixture to dry completely, then remove it with a damp cloth. The blogger claims that baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliant, leaving skin smooth, "almost like after microdermabrasion." However, skin experts are extremely skeptical of this advice. Despite the ingredient's simplicity and availability, such experiments can only be harmful in the long run. Dermatologists remind us that baking soda has an alkaline pH, while the skin's natural pH is slightly acidic. This balance is important for the normal functioning of the skin barrier. Disrupting it can lead to irritation, dryness, and increased sensitivity, especially in such a delicate area as the under-eye area. Therefore, the combination of baking soda and under-eye skin is far from the best skincare option. Sometimes, a simple life hack turns out to be a harmful idea.
