But it became obvious: the item they had found was of great value to someone. That evening, the brothers reported the incident to the local sheriff, but he didn't answer their calls in the morning. The strangers soon reappeared and declared that the law enforcement officer could not be trusted, as he himself was involved in the incident. It became clear that an ordinary find had become a key element in a dangerous plot. The strangers warned that time was running out and that new participants in the operation would soon arrive. The brothers then decided to set sail, taking the find with them. Before sailing, they left a voice message: the exchange would take place only after the missing brother was safe. The sheriff quickly called back. His voice betrayed great anxiety. One request in particular was alarming: under no circumstances was the discovery to be opened.
