Christopher Wanless became the owner of 41 acres of picturesque woodland—the kind of place many only dream of. The real estate agent spoke of the property's tranquility, nature, and vast potential. However, not a word was said about what lay beneath the surface. While walking, Christopher accidentally stumbled into a shallow depression and noticed a strange, moss-covered entrance leading into the ground. It turned out to be no ordinary hole—it was the entrance to an abandoned mine. Returning for a flashlight and spare batteries, he ventured inside. The air in the tunnel was damp, heavy, and noticeably colder than outside. The walls glistened, reflecting metallic reflections, which made him think of gold. After about 150 feet, he began to hear strange sounds: a dull hum, the clanking of metal, and even something resembling a whisper. When he tried to call out, only an echo answered. Rusty chains hung from the ceiling, and one of them suddenly began swinging on its own. Christopher hurried outside, unsure what he had just experienced. The next day, he returned, this time with an agency representative. An inspection confirmed his suspicion: the rock did indeed contain gold inclusions. Apparently, the mine had been abandoned many years ago and had never been fully developed. Eager to get to the bottom of it, Christopher ventured into the mine alone again and advanced approximately 600 feet. There, he discovered a hidden door leading to an icy chamber unlike the rest of the tunnel. Inside, there were signs of recent human habitation: an old mattress, a rusty bed, scattered belongings. Someone had lived here very recently. Suddenly, a loud metallic thud sounded behind him. The flashlight began to flicker. The chains began to jingle again. Then a piercing ringing sound began, disorienting him. He rushed for the exit in a panic. After returning, the situation didn't improve. The lights in the house began flickering, the temperature dropped sharply, and the camera turned on by itself, even when it was turned off. He couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. When the computer suddenly shut down, and it felt like someone was tugging at his feet, Christopher knew he'd had enough. A few days later, the property was put up for sale. He avoided contact with buyers, entrusting everything to his mother. Any reasonable offer was accepted without hesitation. The place that had seemed ideal turned into a mystery he no longer wanted to return to. What exactly was happening in the mine—fear, a presence, or something inexplicable—remained a mystery.
